Seems there are a few people who spout it all the time trying to look cool.

I think I'd argue that it's not used to describe anyone that you mention. It's not what one does/wears, it's the way one does it.
People use the word so much because there are so bleedin' many of the ******* out there. Anyway, they're not all Chavs, there's a fair few hood rats out there too

Only a Chav gets sick of the word. He must get called it all day. No smoke without fire.

Too right alloy....
I drive fast with other mates in performance cars, I listen to my music loud, I go out and get smashed when I can, I wear a basebull cap and I work in an office where I EARN my money to do the things I enjoy!!
I don't sit about, doss and stand on street corners with my 50cc moped, lid on top of my head being too cool for school.....
I think people like me should be in True Grip under the title of "I ain't no Chav" to put a good few people right....
Like the 30 somethings that are pi$$ed off because the younger working generation are going out, earning money and buying the cars the 30+ have only just started to enjoy AND driving them how they are supposed to be driven....
Peace

The main problem is that the meaning of the word has been changed over the last 12 months. Originally a "chav" not only referred to those less well off in the earning stakes, but generally to anyone with not much in the way of class/taste, so the Beckhams, Westbrook, J-Lo etc etc were all classed as chavs.
Now, people only seem to use it to describe the "Burberry masive".

How much does it p155 you lot off that a certain personality owns a car, that dare i say you do to ?
How pompus must you all be to think that a certain age group are "Chav's" and shouldn't own/mod a car that dare i say you own too?
It just goes to show that age and maturity aren't correlated as half you planks stereotype beyond belief!
As a 20 year old STI MY02 driver it irritates me beyond belief that you lot degrade peoples choice and opinions by calling us Chavs simply because we are more youthful and enjoying the drive you do too, its a sign of the times boys and girls you'd better start getting use to it!

and replied to like a true ageing boy racer....
now there's a more accurate term......boy racers maybe but they're classed as the RS turbos and XR3i's?.........so why put Subaru's in the chav bracket.........maybe you'd be right on nova forum but on here.......it's just being plain touchy......bet you don't flash another subaru if you see a younger driver??
Thats one thing i've noticed since i've owned my scoob.......I get more hassel off the 30+ crowd whilst driving then the younger drivers cause they apppreciate what you've got when the older guys are sick because they think flash ******. The fact that I earn my money and have something that I enjoy to show for it puts me in the chav bracket because I don't take the wife and kids shopping in it?
or is that the ageing, narrow minded view of the jealous few....
