Thumbs down Extended Warranty Prices

OK, so I've had my WRX STi for coming up to 3 years. I get a nice letter saying i can extend the warranty and get a free MOT. I thought ok i'll go for it. I've just rung up to ask how much they are.

1 year Option - £510
2 Year option - £1150

Now is it me or is that over the top. But then again putting into perspective how much a gear box might cost unwarrantied.

Anyone in the same situation?

Yes me. I'm going to take the chance. At least I can mod the car and not get warranty arguments. In standard or ppp form they're pretty tough cars and if they havnt gone wrong in 3 years then I think the chances are good it'll stay together. (Warranty replacements I've had are rear shocks that were leaking oil and the radiator that wasn't sealed properly around the top tank).

Cheers, Diccy.

My Approved warrenty ran out at the end of last year and T&C offered me a new one.

I have a MY00 and a 1 year extended warrenty will be £900+ i gave it a miss.

Same here.... I said to the one salesman that you can buy a second hand standard turbo for under a £100 and he just looked at me so I will not be spending out on this either.

Thanks guys

Just looked at the warrantyworks website, looks ok but there claim limits are a little low.

The main reason im thinking of getting it is to make it more sellable as i wont be keeping it for more than 2 years. Do you think its worth offsetting 1150 quid against that. Personally i would pay a little more for a scooby if it had the subaru extended warranty with it. hmmmm

Cheers

The extent of the items covered by the warranty makes it almost worthless in my opinion. Like D1ccy said if aint gone wrong in three years its unlikely, and even if it does they will claim it was somehow your fault or wear and tear!
