I got this email this morning. I hate spammers, I think maybe they got my email address from Scoobynet?

I got 1 too. Same subject of Subaru Enthusiast so we have obviously visited the same website if they have not got them from Scoobynet.

A quick and simple way of fighting spammers.

Send (from hotmail preferably) back to the firm a few emails with some very large files atatched.

Does the trick in clogging up their email system if a few people do it.

I hate them

Guys

I think we can figure that they've pinched the emails from this site - *******s!

I've got Suftime, so I can send them a few nice files.

It's time to get my own back on spammers!

Problem with sending large files is that you use up even more internet bandwith, ennoying people who don't have anything to do with this...

They do however say they have a bbs section: one might want to air ones discontent over there ?

[crap spelling causing even more bandwith ...]

Anyone know how I can complain to their ISP?

Can Scoobynet complain if they've stolen data?

Erm can I just confirm something - if I've entered their siter and asked for a postcard - what does this mean for me - what is the problem with the site? - should I be concerned?

Red face

Is that what it was about?
I was getting directed to so many **** sites like this I didn't open the mail.
Never do if I don't know the sender.
Last thing I want is to be looking for a rally car and ending up with some lusty twenty year old sex vixen in leather bondage wear telling me I'm her ultimate sex god.
Like I didn't know already!

Unhappy

Me too.

Not amused.

I think a couple of dozen 10Mb photos should do the job.

Something happened a while back when a distribution list was nicked from a Scoob page.

Yes got it as well. Unless they went through every persons profile - how did they get the email addresses?

I've never visited their site that's for sure and I won't be in the future either.

Hi All

I received an email from a friend to say that they thought this was going on (thank you).

I am a little upset and emailed them this morning (long before this thread started) to ask them why they hadn't asked before taking email addresses for the purposes of spam.

They have replied and I am about to read their explanations, but thought I would post to let you know I am looking into it.

May I personally apologise to anybody who has received these emails.

I CATEGORICALLY will NEVER EVER sell email addresses, so I want it to be VERY clear that this has not happened.

The email addresses have been taken by a computer operator they say they employed to strip all the email addresses out.

I will let you know what they say and will point them to this thread so they can answer our questions.

Kind regards

Webmaster

You know, it didn't even cross my mind my email address might have been sold by Webster.
Glad you're looking into it.

Thanks for the update. I would be interested to know how they did this. Maybe we will have to hide our email addresses in future?

>Others who don't understand what's happened
These people have hacked into as many BBS sites as they can & stolen email addresses.
