Default power and weight

Everybody goes on about bhp figures of ther scoobys but not how the weight of their cars affects their performance.I found out how weight was such a big factor several months ago before I sold myUK turbo 2000 wagon ,a friend had a 2003 wrx sti with full decat, remap and all the extras, my wagon had full decat,no remap. From 20 mph too well into three figures there was basically nothing in it much to my surprise and my friends dissapointment.
Obviously this was on a private piece of dual carriage way and I do not encourage breaking the speed limit.
When my mate was at the scooby specialist the following week for some more exspensive mods he mentioned the similar straight line speeds and was told that my car weighs 1235 kg and his weighs 1470 kg.This equates to him having three 12 stone passengers and my weight advantage takes an awful lot of bhp too overcome.
So basically what I am trying to say is bhp figures are not everything.

Bhp per tonne is everything.

Not sure that a uk wagon weighs 1235kg though.

Agree totally with the OP - POWER TO WEIGHT ratio is what matters, not just BHP - I'm sure big lorries have huge bhp figures, but I wouldnt want to race a car in them.

You'll get your ***** whipped all day everyday by LocoCaterFields with 120-170bhp bike engines, mainly because they weigh no more than 400-500kgs.

A hayabuse engined Locost could have 425bhp/ton!
