Default London to the Alps, 550 Miles what MPG should a expect?

Me and the Mrs are going to the Alps at the end of the month and we are going to take the scooby (MY03 WRX PPP), ive done a routemap and its 550 miles from Calais to the place we are staying, most of it on fast toll roads. im planning on putting my foot down (obviously!) and wondered what MPG i should expect for long stints at 120mph

15mpg?

also how much is fuel?

You'll get there quicker cruising @ the ton with fewer fuel stops. Came back from geneva in the summer and didnt do the maths but was getting roughly mid-20s like that.

On our annual run to Le mans doing high speed auto-route thrashes, the economy just tumbles. Aerodynamics of that scoop just arent helpful....

Well having driven back from Brighton at roughly the same speed i went through 50-60 quid worth of Optimax The mileage was 275 so i would imagine double of what i spent

I consume a tank in a fraction under 200miles doing between 100-120mph

A better consumption stat than a 1/4 of a tank in 21miles

Lesson learnt: better fuel economy at high speed than rallying around

Drive safe, them continental dwellers aren't the most road observant!

Went to Lime Regis over the Xmas break with the missus and got 420 miles on a tank (55 litres), was driving between 60-70 (M4, M27,A31/35)as this was all the traffic allowed. If you keep the revs below 3rpm 35mpg is posible on a long trip, I think a trip of >200 miles improve mpg by 2-5 mpg.

I tend to poodle on a long trip and talk with the missus

If you get 25mpg on a long trip I guess on average you get 21mpg and like hearing that turbo spin (nice!)

Cheers,

MP

i went to Birmingham for the MPH05 show, 4 of us in my 03Sti taking it steady at 80 most of the way with a clear run, didnt bast it at all really and still only got 280 to a tank of Optimax, i was at least hoping 300!!!

ur better off having fun and thrashing it a bit

Did the trip last september averaged 20mpg in my Spec in company with other scoobs and Evos so was not hanging around. So will be taking the Focus when Im off skiingthis year same as last averaged 35mpg.

P.S if you are caught over 95mph expect a 850-950 Euro fine or potential impounding off car. A26 is bad for mobile cameras.

I travel through France and onto Spain at least twice a year, and everytime i have gone in any of the scoobs i had at the time, doing around 90ish i never got more than 18 mpg. So dont expect anywhere near mid 20's as you will only be dissapointed especially as there is a lot of gradient driving involved.

Cost of super unleaded in both france and switzerland was about .83 euros per liter. And suprisingly I did about 25mpg, cruising between 85-100mph. (with MY97 WRX)
Be careful in france, the police are strict on speeding and may take your license away (gumball 2004)

Speed Limits:
France: Motorway: 80 (68 when wet) / Open Road: 55 (50 when wet) / Dual Carriageway: 68 (62 when wet)
Switzerland: Motorway: 74 / Open Road: 50

Well i done the trip to the alps door to door i think it was 750 miles. It worked out about 300 pounds including tolls. That was in a typr r so not such a good return due to the high ratio's.
