I went to the dealer about my car doing this (02 plate bugeye WRX,22,000mls) they took it and done checks to make sure the ECU didnt have a problem, which it didnt, but still couldnt find anything and gave me the car back.
A couple of days later i had a phone call from them telling me that they had phone other dealers to see if anyone else had come across the same problem and they had.
Why this seems to be happening is when you dip the clutch is to aid the gear change, like blipping the throtle, ready for the pick up of the next gear.
If you change gear too quick you get a little jerk through the transmision, if you take 1/2 a second longer,so a steady, nice gear change with out the hurriedness you will find it changes a lot smoother and nicer but you still get the quick engine/gearchange over in the same amount of time overall.

So there is nothing wrong with your cars.

I've got an MY01 bugeye and mine does it occasionally as well and I can back up "justanotherperson", it only does it when I change too quickly and I can tell every time I've done it.

Nothing to worry about.

Mine has done it from new......I used to worry about it but it's been reported by a lot of bugeye owners

Modding the pants off the car doesn't stop it either .....LOL

I have this to, and posted over on the SIDC - lots of people over there reported the same thing on their cars, but no-one came up with an answer!!

Like one of the people above, i noticed it seemed to get worse after i fiited a VTA valve.

As long as it's not doing any harm!!!

I cant see the problem you people have with this ?

Its to keep the revs up whilst you change gear to decrease the acceleration lost through changing gear !

and I know I cant spell

I've had my wrx for 6 months now, and never noticed anything like this.
The only thing even slightly like this is occassionally (very occassionally) when changing up from 3rd to 4th it seems like the gearbox won't accept the gear, and it ends up grinding. My mate's my93 wrx does the exact same thing now and again. I've never noticed the revs going up just as I dip the clutch, but I'll keep an eye out for it from now on.

Mine's brand new (MY2005 WRX) and I've also noticed this. Not seen it as a problem though 'cept I'm supposed to be keeping it below 4000rpm for running in and this sometimes takes it a bit over!

Red face

thanks for that mate, feel really great about life now

I don't see it as a huge problem, happens once a month at most, though its got to go into subaru this week as the drivers door is RUSTING!!!
Shouldn't be too much of a problem, as its all still under warranty, so I'll get em to have a look at it when they do the door.
Its a my02 bug eye wrx by the way, I see the similarity now......

Damn!

Nope, it's a build problem with the gearbox. It pi55es me off that they can still keep releasing cars for sale when they know they have to deal with quite a few post-sale warranty claims for gearbox failures.
