Default A few questions about the UK and cars

Hi my name's Mark and I'm from Invercargill, New Zealand. I'm 17. I did own a '90 subie legacy rs, but the bogan bug hit me and I bought a '72 Valiant Regal, most of you wont know what that is though.

I am coming to England next year,(fingers crossed) I'm joining your army
And I want to buy an evo 4 or an 95-96 STI. They seem to be cheap in the UK? Or is that just what cars cost over there?

Anyway I have a few questions about driving cars in the UK. ( dont laugh I know nothing about the UK)

1. What age can you get your full driving licence? In NZ its 16 and a half, would I have to sit all the tests again or will I just get a UK licence straight up? Its all the same road rules and stuff

2. Are young people even allowed to drive fast cars? Turbos etc? I know in some states of Australia your not.

3. Can young people insure turbos? At what cost? Ive insured a turbo subaru and a V8 in NZ with no claims so that might help.

4. Are the roads packed with police with nothing better to do other than pointless revenue collecting through speeding tickets? (NZ seems to be going that way)

I'll have more questions, I just cant think of them right now

Thanks in advance

O I also have one more very serious question.

Are mars bars really 10p in England? Or is that just a crazy rumour floating round?

I know what I'll be living on if its true :0

Welcome Mark.

1. - 17, although I believe new drivers only get a 6 point licence (Full licence is 12 points)

2. - no laws restricting the types of cars used by young driver or modifications

3. - Costly. I paid £3500 in my first year of owning an Impreza.

4. - Less police, but more cameras.

Don'y you get the same rare cars as japan does? You should buy a highly modified Impreza from an auction in japan, unless registration prices are high in new zealand, I know in malta they are.

Yeh but I'm moving to the UK. You can register anything out of Japan as long as its 1996+ or meets frontal impact laws.

Bob R, why do you say that, the pigs cant be worse than the ones in NZ, if they can catch us

Reasons im moving to the UK.
1. Its not america
2. Your army actually has tanks and proper equipment
3. Nice people
4. Extremely attractive ladies from what I've seen
5. And most importantly cheap lollies for that mars bar its like half the price of what we pay for one in NZ, plus you earn ALOT more than us. You must have some fat kids aye

From experience of NZ and people who I know who have been recently.

Prices of most things are roughly the same, exceptions being fuel (95+p per litre here for 98octane)

Our army gets blown up by the americans

Not sure on the nice people, like most places some are others are *****

Chocolate tastes different (different ingredients even in the same things here vs NZ)

Also loads of people (especially those that like to work for a living) are going from UK to Aus / NZ. That should say something to you

Man I didnt realise fuel was that price, if put in pounds fuel here would be 52p a litre

Im only going to do a 4 year contract, then take it from there. On the other side of that I know HEAPS of people from NZ who are living in London.

Am I right about the ladies???

I hear they go alright

They do, London is a very diverse place these days. Not to many people from London any more. Its a lot easyer to get into our country than it is yours. Im trying to get enough points to emigrate in 4 years time.
N u may find it very hard to insure a Turbo over here at that age on a policy of your own. Im 22 and pay £1700 with 4 years no claims and I had to blackmail one insuance co to take me. no one ealse would til 25! Gd luck tho chief! Nemore questions?
Wt part of NZ you from?

Whys it going down hill?? In what way?

Your talking to someone who has only seen England on television though. Ive always thought of england as a very "proper",polite, friendly place.

I heard Britain is packed with immigrants now, but everywhere getting like that nowadays.

Goddam I just want to drive tanks, and I'm certainly not going to bloody america
