Default oh dear not a happy bunny...

what with the lack of Optimax out there and the recent Evo article I thought I would try BP Ultimate in my MY99 UK, but it definitely prefers Optimax no question, very rough sounding etc, anyone else experienced this?

btw do not go out driving around the M1 or M25, just got back into London and obviously I guess everyone was doing the same...

i found my old MY99 would run on anything as long as it was super unleaded, can't remember feeling any difference in the cars performance.

I have a MY05 STi PPP with it's first tankfull of Ultimate. Have noticed on full throttle that it feels hesitent, like it's not giving a smooth power delivery, plus it feels less willing to rev to the red line.

It might all be in my head of course but it deffo feel slower.

I put a tank of Sainsburys SUL (Ultimate apparantly) in, only my 2nd tank since having my 05 STi PPP & also noticed a downturn in performance!! First tank (Optimax) certainly felt better.

fyi have just re-read the Evo article and it says that Subarus in particular run better in Optimax than any other SUL fuel, as opposed, for example, to Mitsu Evos which seem to run better on BP, go figure, anyway glad a few people agree, I will certainly be switching back when Optimax is available

although I will say the car seems to run perfectly well on normal 95 anyway, perhaps because I reckon the previous owner never put SUL in the car...begining to think why spend the extra cash

Gotta say had been thinking mine was running a bit lumpy, not as smooth as usual, remembered for the first time ever I'd put BP Ultimate in it.. be back on the Optimax for the next fill...

Had 95 in my STi type UK. No problem, no roughness, no hesitation, similar consumption and 11p/litre cheaper round here (Criminals !).

No real noticeable difference in performance, but it co-incided with colder weather so might have been masked by that.

Would prefer 98, but I noticed no negatives on using 95. As the car is designed to run on it being a UK car, I can't see it having any detrimental effect to the engine either.
