Default French Speeding Tickets

I have just received a speeding ticket from a snowboarding trip I made to France in January (!).

My natural reaction is to ignore it but wondered if anyone had anyone knows anything about the current legal position.

Sorry, i have no info to offer to help you but how fast were you going on the ski slopes to get done for speeding. I mean, i knew snow boards were quick but...

Got a scan of the ticket? I received what I reckon was a scam ticket following a trip to the Netherlands last year. Looked into and it was a Gibralter based firm called "Euro speed enforcement", same people by any chance? As far as I know there is no way of enforcing speeding fines other than on the spot.

I know that European haulage vehicles that are caught speeding in this country just **** off back over the channel without paying and there's no comeback from the DVLA, etc.

I'd file it somewhere for safe keeping and plead ignorance if it ever crops up again!

As above, just ignore it. If anything happens afterwards you can say you thought it was a scam, as it's dated from January. UK tickets have to be issued within 2 weeks.

if the vehicle you were in was a hire car... (avis hertz etc,)

then you are liable, they will persue you for the fine,

Suggest you pose the question on http://www.pepipoo.com as you're more likely to get an 'informed response'.
