There was a company doing 1000 promotional checks for £6 on t'eBay but I think theyve all gone now. You best bet is a trader wholl do you one for the £3 odd it costs them...

Im afraid that I dont; Ive been meaning to join HPI again though. If you look on the other thread youll see that someone off ScoobyNet did him a check so he may be able to help you too.

What I use which has been correct on the previous 2 cars I bought, on your MOB text the following as it is :

CHECK Reg no.

For eg. CHECK xyz 345

This will then cost £2.50 and give you the year, model, No. of previous owners, last 4 digits VIN No..

Text No. 88600.

You might have to pay an extra £2.50 for Accident history and Credit history.

CarWatch website had a quirk on it - I was checking out how it worked with a couple of numbers and ended up paying for the wrong number - they weren't very helpful about it either - accused me of trying to get free check - cheeky so 'n' sos

Just tried that link for a bunch of mine and my dad's old cars to see which are still on the road! I notice that the date of manufacture is always given as 31st December in whatever year it was - I guess that's because they only store the year.
