Evo Magazine Fuel Test!!!
Didn't expect Ultimate to perform that well!
Although they did say that Optimax was the driver's choice.
Tesco 99 made a good showing and was up there with the best for power.
Shame it wasn't tested on a Scoob though, Golf GTi and M5 only.
Thoughts anyone?

There's a very small section towards the end of the article that says Scoobs seem to like Optimax better and Mitsus BP. I always use Optimax and didn't read anything in the article that would change that; the fact that a Golf GTi gives better power figures on BP is irrelevent to me, particularly when they name Optimax the 'drivers choice'.
Nice idea for an article but what they did was too limited to really tell us anything.

Would have been nice if they'd increased the range of cars tested. The M5 has "probably the most sophisticated engine management system". I have a TVR with probably the least sophisticated engine management system, so how do the results apply to me?
A "performance diesel" test would be nice as well, since there are a couple around now (BP Ultimate, Shell Extra).

They will soon need to add another fuel to this test.
I heard that BP are going to release a 100 octane fuel in the uk in Q1 next year. it will be going into a select few pump so see how well it sells.
I have heard that is's gonna be quite expensive though.

Its in the latest one; I received mine this morning. In light of the poor performance by some of the Optimax a follow up story would be very helpful. Ideally an article on the RON rating of Optimax fuel bought from a (hopefully large) selection of Shell garages; tested using the correct single cylinder four stroke engine. I suspect that itll range from a shade over 98RON to well under 95RON, considering the results of the EVO test...
I expect that a high number of Subaru owners are surprised that BP Ultimate fared so well.....?
