Talking STi 3 vs STi 4 Type R, differences?

As above, what's the difference between a v3 and v4 Type R 2 door?

Only difference I can make out so far is the dashboard, ie v3 has the nasty early dash. DOes anyone know what the steering wheel looks like?

I've seen a type R 2 door I'd quite like a look at but it's a v3 (so has the nasty dash which I hate it) car looks very nice other than this (very clean, original stickers etc) and I'm wondering if there is any other benefit to getting a v4?

Appreciate any input

The V3 should have the same Momo Steering wheel as the later Scoobies, but without the silver surround around the Momo badge or it might have a Nardi wheel.

v4 has a momo steering with airbag - seats are sti ones
v3 has '555' seats.
the v4 has a digital clock (mileage) and white dials as all later model impreza's, AND i'm pretty sure the engine differs (Internally) but not sure how...

some1 will be along to explain in more detail i'm sure...

Raf.

Thanks for the input.

Should the v3 have the red inlet manifold finish?

The only real difference is the interior, engine wise the V3 has a VF23 turbo and the V4 has a VF24 turbo.
Other than that they are the same

Next question..

How do I ID an sti v3 engine?

I know the code will be on the plate but I may be looking at a car that has had a new engine put in, is there a way to ID the block?
