Default How to tell if PPP equiped??

Hi guys, how can I tell if an 05 STi has the PPP kit fitted? I know by checking the (blue?) hose on a WRX but what about an STi?

The car in question is from an independent dealer (not Subaru) has a Prodrive exhaust but no certificate. Obviously it could just has the exhaust fitted but seems to go very well when test driven. I've only driven a couple so not really much to compare against. The dealer dosen't know.

Is there a visual check like the WRX??

Cheers

Dave

tell the dealer no cert=no PPP, so don't pay more than a normal STi.

as for how YOU tell. someonelse may be able to fill you in.

You could check with a Subaru Dealer I would have thought. Surely they will know off their database via the cars reg number whether or not it has been fitted. Prodrive will have a record aswell, I'm sure they would help.

It's only STi money (for a dealer) so not bothered if it dosen't have it....Need to know for insurance though.

I'd be concerned if the company selling the vehicle didn't know! - and even more concerned if they couldn't be bothered to find out for you!!! (via Subaru/Prodrive/checking ECU etc?)

Yeah, will try the Subaru/Prodrive route, thought there may have been an easier check...

Dealer has actually said it doesn't have the PPP kit just the exhaust, but admitted he didn't know 100%. Just seemed strange to me to have the exhaust only. More than likely standard but worth a check for the insurance if nothing else. Gonna have it anyway

Look at the downpipe. If it has a silver heat jacket on the cat then its probably PPP.

On my MY05 WRX they stuck a silver sticker - about 2" square - in the drivers door shut saying it was uprated via PPP to 261bhp + to inform insurance ..... it looks like one of those stickers that is a bit hard to get off as opposed to the sort that reminds you of your next MOT date......

Yep best way.
If you have the high flow cat then you probably have the PPP.
Just behind the turbo a heat wrapped downpipe cat.
The dealer that fitted the ppp will also have it logged.

i had the same prob ... so i checked with dealer and they said no record of ppp ... contacted subaru uk and they said an odd few slip through the net and they would find out for me ,, called back next day to say the reason they did not have sert was because the car was ppp at prodrive not retro fitted at dealer like most others .. call subaru uk or prodrive and they can tell you for sure ... you will need reg or vin no...

Had a call from Prodrive today who has confirmed that the car DOES have PPP I call that a result as I bought it as a standard STi for probably less than standard STi money. Thought It was a bit strange to have the Prodrive exhaust without the rest of the kit....Did seem a little quick for standard too...

I can get a replacement certificate through my dealer too.
