Drinking in the last chance saloon

I`ve had two accidents in the space of 18 months, although my no claims is protected, I understand that one more claim will reduce my no claims discount to 40%.I know I have to inform any new insurer of previous claims but
If I change insurers do I get my three lives back or does it mean three claims regardless of who they are with?
Sorry if it sounds a stupid question.

Hi Moz
having been (and still am until my insurance renewal next year) in the same situation as you, i also have protection on my insurance, you will loose out unless the insurance company is really nice!! so it looks like 40%ncb if you have another accident.... sorry....

Moz,
Just spoken to my good lady who is good woth this sort of stuff and she states it is down to the new insurer.
Some will not honour a protected bonus if a claim has been entered with your current insurer, but then again some will.
She states it might be an idea to find a company that will honour it (even if they are not the cheapest), then ring around stating that you have had a quote from a company willing to honour it, in the hope the cheaper quoting companies will follow suit.
Does that make sense?
Hope this helps.

I have no idea if this is correct or not, but a guy in the office alternates insuring his car in his name for 2 years, then his wifes for 2 years, thus protecting any NCB, and having the other person as a named driver.
Maybe an idea!
