Re-painting alloys - how much?
Have finally got to thinking that the gold wheels on my silver STI would look better in silver/grey.
The only place I have found local is Wicked Wheels, but they are quoting around £65 per wheel.
Seems a bit steep to me, or is this the going rate?
Also, can anyone recommend anyone in the Darlington/Teesside area for this service?

Hi mate. Had mine done thru a dealer who took the wheels to a place in Portrack. They are located on the road you turn down to get into Collectables (near Asda). The name of the place escapes me however.
The dealer charged me £180 for four wheels so take ff their cut and the price might not be too bad if i had gone direct.
Think they might be called Romat, Romax orsomething along those lines.
Nik.

I think Prestine charge about £60/£65, you can get a cheaper job done by Chipsaway and the like, but its just a sprayed finish, IMO worth paying extra for a pukka job

It is Romax and I think they charge abot £35-£40 per wheel to shot blast them and relaquer them. I dont know if they require more work to remove paint though. Also the price quoted was about 2 years ago so they will have gone up.
The quality of their work is very good too.

I had mine done at Romax three weeks ago. They charge £175 for four wheels finished in anthracite or silver, and £225 for black/chrome, which is what I had done.
They seem to have done a very good job; they do it all on the one day so you don't need to take the wheels off yourself or worry about anything like that. They only seem to need a couple of days notice to book the car in and balance the wheels properly, etc (no stupid weights stuck on the front of the wheel!)

my dad had a set done at SEM WHEELS in sunderland, arguably the best in the north, £45 per wheel, that was for the removal of the tyres, stripped, painted in a Black through to a near chrome finish, 18" diameter as well and then the tyres fitted and balanced.
a really good finish, see the pic below

oh, and that wasnt with flush fit valves, as he recomended not to have them refitted, because they are a solid valve, its easy to crack the finish when checking tyre pressures, but they are chrome as you can see and they do look a 1st class job
