Default Subaru Legacy

Looking for an information site about this style of Legacy Turbo and also a place where you can pick these up... They seem to be like hens teeth, or knackered Estates?!

Cheers,
Grant

Hi Grant

Nice photo. Have you registered over on www.uklegacy.com

They are very hard to come by if you want a saloon but they do come up. A word of advice though, if you've seen the one on autotraders website with "80,000" miles on someone had it hpi checked yesterday and in 2000 it had 142,000!

I'll have to have a look

I'm a big fan of the cars and my sister who is normally an Impreza driver has just borrowed it from me and she was very impressed that the interior and boot are so much bigger than her classic I think she's loving the car so far

Be careful I bought one the clutch went then radiator then headgasket. I ended up with:
STi Clutch.
Superchip
Sti Head gasket
16" Impreza alloys
Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres
Boost Gauge
Tints all round
Lambda Link
Used Octane Booster plus Optimax
Koni Shockers
Get someone to check it out who know Subarus inside out RAC Inspection will not help (I got mine inspected by them...clowns).
Closed Deck Engine really solid...when it was good it was fantastic. The Estates look really cool as well and when you launched it it was really good. But the car was like the car equivalent of the film "The Money Pit". Never again...but I really miss it (Insurance far too high for me and petrol...heavy Right foot).

Avoid any with Superchips These are fuel cut defenders and manual boost controllers They don't and can't adjust the timing or fuelling. Superchips used to charge customers £500 for the privilege

It was set to overfuel as was discovered when it went on a rolling road so apparently it was very unlikely to melt a piston unlike an Impreza of course. Anyway...Superchips you live and learn.

Did you have a different superchip to that? That one pictured above was simply "clamping the boost pressureto the solenoid" as I was told by superchips. I was told that once they'd stopped the overboost cutting out using this method they increased the boost using a manual boost controller. My car didn't have a manual boost controller of any sign of one

strevencotton yes dodgey clutches, headgaskets, abnormal wear on tyres edges, uneven panels, noisey tappets, lack of service history (turbocharged so needs regular oils changes to keep turbo good). Most will have high mileage unlikley to be below 90,000 (mine was 94,000 when bought sold at around 126,000!!!). Try the Legacy website they know these cars and an enthusiast may be selling one less chance of getting a dog (like I did).

Aaquil.
