IMHO ignoring the muppets is the best idea. If nobody responds to their flames, then hopefully they will get bored and go away and disrupt some other group...

Question

Morning guys.

Ok, recently we have had a few attacks of the muppets, and I am sure whilst entertaining, a lot of you are just as bored with them as I am.

Can we do something to ensure that they are filtered out early. Maybe limited to 3 posts before given full access?

We have had the vote on censorship, but this really is going to degrade the site, if everyone is concentrated on muppet therapy.

Maybe Anders could do them a special deal

If we seriously attempt to sort it all out, maybe we can get all the originals back that have left (or just lurk) to avoid the muppets.

what you rekon?

I agree with Merlin. Best way to lose the 'muppet' mentality is to ignore it.

Maybe Simon dB could come up with a kermit style topic icon and the moderators could assign it to the sort of 'crap' thats getting posted.

Agree with you both. Not rising to the bait is difficult tho.......but I have managed to avoid 6SSk and JasonM2!!

Trouble is we have all got too much time on our hands now there is petrol in the pumps again (no I am NOT suggesting we resurrect that one again).

Even better idea. If A person gets voted 'a muppet' more for more than 3 seperate offenses the little muppet icon is displayed next to thier user name or thier title changes from 'scooby regular, newbie etc' to scooby muppet

Excellent ideas!

But surely ignoring them is the best trick, as replying simply returns their inane drivel back to the top!

Perhaps we could have a 'special' forum for these posts to be assigned to, like Room 101

Unhappy

Hi Guys
As you (or some of you) may remember I used to post regularly, until 'muppetdom' took over... it's real shame as this used to be the best website... now I rarely look at it and only post if I want a quick answer... my last post was a true tribute to 'muppetdom' as it took 12 posts before I got one serious answer... sad... and there are several people I used to know (and still do but not via here) that don't look, post or contribute any more... muppet icon a must.

Muppet banter shouldn't be killed off totally as sometimes it has me ROLMFAO (or whatever!)
But 100 + posts about an Audi .... well I ask you

Neil: LOL like it!

Edited bit:

Oh....and now the Cavalier post has made it past hundred. Wheres that padlock?

Neil, I totally disagree with your proposal. I have decided for myself that I have earned that muppet icon, and there's no way I'm gonna leave such an important decision to some democratic vote.

I know you really should refrain from replying to some stuff, but I just can't resist a good flame-bait. It makes me laugh when some waste of atoms posts something like "you're all tossers and your cars are crap", and then get all upset when you have a dig back. You should probably let the obvious wind-ups run to about 20 posts for a laugh, and then get rid of it.

Scoop: That's superb! Where did you get that from? Is it possible to get a spinning baseball cap, just to amuse me? Possibly with the title 'Scooby Moron', or 'Scooby Spanner'.

Guys,

Whats less constructive, the "Muppet" posts we moderators can't restrict because it would be censorship, or long threads about said muppet threads?

Scooby Muppet with a special icon is a great idea.

I don't know about you guys but some of the muppet postings do make me laugh, it's just when they keep on and on and on that I start to get annoyed (or take themselves too seriously).

So how much 'good behaviour' would be required before a 'Scooby Muppet' is granted parole and the icon removed?
