Default Noobie buying a Scoobie, help plz!!

Hi all,

I'm going to be buying an Impreza in the next few days. I want the classic shape model and I have seen one from a Subaru dealership. It has 64k miles with fssh and is priced at 8.5k (It's a W reg).

It does seem fairly expensive, but I would really like some advice on what I'm buying and what to look out for etc. Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

AK

why go for an old shape? when you can have a 01 y reg with 48k and prodrive styling for 8k?

For that sort of money you should be looking at a late 2000 (x-reg) mint with PPP.

because I want an old shape one, easily the best looking Scooby ever!! (personal opinion). Anyway, I have been searching all day and been told in every other garage that I should get an import one.... will I be better doing this?

That depends on your age really, if you are 23+ then no probs. I'm 23 with 4 years ncb and it costs me £1300 to insure my sti 4 (my98, r reg). At 21 I paid 2k!
A UK model will not be that much cheaper to insure, but most insurance companys will cover you. On imports they can be a bit sniffy!

It depends on what you want from the car. Imports are quicker and usually have more toys than a uk car

Imports are better IMHO. If you're considering an import than it's best to go for an STI, they go like stink and have all the toys!

Speak to a specialist, David @ Api is a great guy and knows all there is to know.

I would stick with a UK car purely for insurance purposes and being able to verify the service history etc.

As it happens (lol) I have a blue W-Reg Turbo 2000 with only 38,000 miles on which I am contemplating selling at the moment. Its got full service history and a few sensible mods (exhaust, stereo, clear lights, dump valve) I will be looking for about £8500 for it.

Im based in Hull.

Send me a pm if you are interested.

Si

8.5k is far too expensive for the one u are looking at!64k too? u could get a w/x reg with below 30,000 miles for that price and maybe some nice mods
