It had 17" speedlines I think.
My MY96 with 16" wheels (ex MarkL's MY99) handles great, with only minor contour following.
Good luck with it!

Hi Lee
Welcome to the board! Can't comment on the car itself - I don't know enough about it - but I'm sure there are a few people on here who do.
As far as the wheels go, I would avoid using cleaners like Wonder Wheels because they are acidic. They can attack the surface of the wheels making them look a right mess. Have a look at

Allo.
Yep as Chris says Mr Wax Wizard will supply some tasty cleaning stuff for you (I recomend one of his starter packs..u get a few different bits and bobs with it) The wheel cleaner can also be used for cleaning fabric and engine bays and it does work very well.
As for the car, well the series Mcrae if standard and has a full scooby service history would be a good purchase at the right price. Find out who owned it, perhaps they were an SIDC member of from on here or 22b.com? There is a chance they were
If thats the case, at least then this way you can check the history of the beast, i.e mods that have been done and perhaps removed e.t.c
Its well worth finding this stuff out and I am sure that everyone on here will advise you with any advice that you need
Regards

Welcome aboard Lee
If it's a dealer, make sure you know your prices and stick to them. Scooby prices are falling like bricks at the moment so don't pay top whack. I bought mine from a dealer and now wish I hadn't, lost £! since.
Look at the cars being sold on here to get an idea of what you can get for your money.
Don't rule out imports, check out Charlesworths in Plumtree and speak to any of the 'import' crowd on here for advice.
The Series McRae is nice, nearly bought one myself, should be worth 10-15% more than a standard UK one. I found the ride very hard and it tramlined a lot with 17" wheels.
Good luck with whatever you get and come along to the Midlands meets!

Thanks,
The last owner was fairly local but I havn't been able to get in touch yet. As well as the FSH is a folder full of invoices so I'll check through them also.
The car itself is £12500 slightly high but this is offset with the good trade in they gave me for my Focus.
Just one point for Chris you say the McRae you drove tramlined on the 17" wheels but the McRae has 16" fitted as standard was the one you drove modded?
Cheers
Lee

Hi All,
Was planning on buying a MY97/98ish next year but my local dealer has a MY96 Series McRae with 50k miles one owner and FSH so I collect it in around 40 hours.
I have a couple of questions if anyone can help.
Anything I should lookout for while its under Warranty?
What should I use to clean the gold Speedline wheels (usualy use Wonder Wheels)?
Thanks in advance

Thanks again,
I'll try some wax wizard stuff later on when my funds recover a little.
Brett,
A friend of mine runs a car spares shop and is an Autoglym dealer so I'll try some of that if its not acidic.
Cheers

Hi - Welcome to the Scooby fan club.
I use some Different autoglym wheel cleaner today (5 litre container - pink liquid), in conjuction with an autoglym wheel cleaning brush (cost £10).
The combination of the two did a fab job without too much effort.
