Missed 1000 mile service
As the title says , my car is nearer 3000 than 1000. I bought my car from one of those car supermarket jobbies. It had done about 1800 miles when I bought it and hadn't been serviced.Only on joining here did I realise that my car needed servicing at 1000 miles.
Will this bugger up my warranty? I have my car booked in for a 3000 mile service next week.

Also if you havent registered your warranty with Subaru UK you may not have one (at the moment). Find the thread titled "this is not good" for an explanation.

Do they run the car with thinner than normal engine oil for the first 1000 miles?
If so, I'm guessing it isn't healthy to run it on that oil for too long?

apparently not- but you won't have a warranty anyway. i would persue the car supermarket- it had already missed its service anyway. if sold "with warranty" then they are in breach of contract

Had my 1000 mile service last week.
When I picked it up was told by the dealer to make sure that I booked the next one no later than 1000 miles beyond the service interval otherwise Subaru get arsy about honouring the warranty.

If its from cyprus the first service is at 5000kilometres check your service book to see what the service intervals are otherwise technically you are voiding the warranty irrespective of what UK service intervals are.

We put in a 'running in oil ' that is still either 10W 40 or 15W 40 so not 'thinner' in that sense. What it is, is an oil with as little silicon content as we can buy, so that the engine has a good chance to bed the rings in before achieving and undesirable polished finish.

PS to answer the thread's first question; no need to worry unduly about engine damage dirty oil is not ideal but is better than low or no oil. So assuming a full sump no real worry. Just get the service done as soon as possible.
I would suggest that if you had a dated receipt available for an oil filter and a 5 litre can of oil, you could argue that the change was done independently at about the right time. There could be little argument and thus cancellation of the warranty...........

dont even go there mate, or you will be selling the car, and then buy a push bike...
i looked at this as my engine has just blown up, nothing you need concern yourself with though i dont think.
the price was not very clear, but what was pretty clear is that it was very quickly looking like more than i could afford lol
