Default Will fitting 18's make ....

my car look like it's on hydraulics?? I'm seriously considering having some pff7's fitted to my 03 sti ppp but i don't want to have to get it lowered aswell.
Anyone on here got a pic of 18's on a newage with standard springs?

The guy in the parts dept said my car would have pro drive springs as it has the ppp fitted, is this total c**p?
How can i tell if they are the standard springs?

Sorry for the 101 questions!

Cheers.

David.

Yeah, i wanted to know this too. I want to replace the gold wheel (brigade) lOOk. I was wandering about the OZ SuperLegras 19's that i've seen some with. If i can add a question to this thread, so these fit straight on without rubbing and does size matter?? / make a difference?

Fitting 18's won't make any difference to the ride height, as lower profile tyres would need fitting to keep the rolling radius the same as 17's

your car will not have prodrive springs on unless you have bought them as they are not part of ppp!
try a car on 18's first and see what you think-19's seem to be for show and not for go.if you get 18's it would prob be better to get springs as well as otherwise your centre of gravity will lift by 1 inch and your car will look like it is on stilts from cars i have seen with 18's but no springs

I think we have been here before....?

If the 18's are fitted with the correct tyres, then the rolling circ and diameter will be the same. Therefore no change in ride height!

Just a thought.....

Cheers!

Standard springs are black. Prodrive ones are red and the ride is much better, you won't regret it if you got them changed. Make sure you go somewhere decent and get the Geo done properly, about £400 all in.

Cheers, Diccy.

Checked my springs today and mine are red! Does this mean i have the prodrive ones? Hope so, that would save me some cash! Anything else i can check for? Can't see pro drive written on them anywhere.

Cheers for your help.

Here's my 03 WRX with 18's and standard suspension:

Looks ok me thinks.

Fitting some mudflaps either today or tomorrow, so should make it look a bit lower.

Is this a wind up ? How will the CofG raise by one inch, the axles sit on half of the wheel diameter so thats half an inch but the tyre has to be a lower profile to keep the gearing right....net result No change. It was a wind up wasn't it :-)

But don`t prodrive fit 225/40/18`s to them if you by the tyres awell, which would increase the rolling diameter over 17`s especially 225/40/17`s. The gearing doesn`t matter that much as mine over reads that much on standard 17`s, actually 55-56 at indicated 60. going up one inch in diameter still won`t make it under read.

my '03 STi with PPP has standard springs and they are red. went out in my mates WR1 which has the prodrive springs and they are blue but you can fee lthe difference in the ride. The prodrive springs lower the car and seem to make the ride more supple i.e. doesn't bounce around alot - not so skittish
So i guess this means just because springs are red doesn't mean they are prodive

Here's a couple (only ones I got so far, I know they leave a lot to be desired!) of shots of my 05 WRX on 18" Rota's with 215/35 Toyos. Standard suspension at the moment but Prodrive spings going on Friday. Definitely needs lowering!

Cheers for the help guys! So it looks like the first thing i need to do is get some prodrive springs fitted. Will my local scooby dealer do this for me ? Any idea of cost, is 400 squid about right??

Having a rear shock changed soon, so might see if they can do it then. One last question, do the prodrive springs make the ride any harsher?

Thanks again!

David.
