Default New Owner - couple of Questions

I picked up my 54 plate Impreza WRX wagon today and absolutely love it ! A couple of quick questions though ......

What oil (type/grade) do people generally use - I forgot to ask the dealer what they recommended to top up .....

Also what replacement panel filters do people use - I am not going to fit an intake one, just a straight replacement element. The car is completely standard - will a filter make it feel any different at all ???

Any replies appreciated !

JR Racing, Green, K & N or the STI panel filter are the ones that seem to get the recommendations on here. If you use the search facility for the threads you'll find plenty on filters and likewise on oil and plenty of differing opinions!! I myself run a standard filter and the dealers oil (Shell Helix) on my WRX PPP at the moment.

Cheers Barney.

^^^^ Wot 'e said

On the oil, for topping up find out what the dealer used as mixing isn't recommended. If you do your own change or supply your own oil at the next service then Silkolene ProS 5W40, Motul 300V or Millers, all fully synthetic. Do a search for the username "oilman" for good advice and quality oil products at good prices.
