Impreza STI model year 2003 rear spoiler in carwash
I am getting fed up of washing the car with soap and a bucket. and I was wondering if anyone had taken a Subaru Impreza with a high-level rear spoiler through a car wash.....
does it rip the rear wing off??

I used to occasionally take my MY95 classic through but certainly wouldn't take my MY04 STI through there
For a start I don't think the paintwork could handle the brushes

BAD IDEA IMO
If you don't want to wash it yourself, they take it to a hand clean place.
My local Sainsburys do a clean while you shop for £5 much better idea.
Or get a mobile valeter to come wash your car, but that starts getting pricey.

Never ever ever ever!
Depending on what sensors it uses to detect things, it could well damage it.
Some have a sensor that detect a big hole thinking it is high enough to start returning to the front of the car. Not good!
If you can't be bothered to wash it, do what we do - leave the bloody thing dirty!

Proud winner of the dirtiest car of the show (and every show). Cleaned partially by the tears of Muddy's disbelief.

I personally wouldn't take it through a Car Wash mate, not your pride and Joy!. Especially if it is black, my Dad's car has loads of wisspy lines all over it due to the brushes.
Just give it a quick 15/30 mins hand wash then, no detailing leathering, let it drip dry, if the cold is getting to you

When I was a student I worked in a Texaco in a posh part of Cheshire. I haven't used a car wash since the day some toff got his spoiler ripped clean off the back of his GT3. That was one angry man!

I suppose it would save buying a new car as often, as first it would start going silver, then brown, and to stand any chance of selling it thereafter you'd need to get it resprayed so you could have any colour you liked then
As said above, if you're too bone idle to do it yourself, go to a hand wash, train the kids (could be a worse idea than the carwash ), bribe the missuse or tempt some local smackheads to do it for a £5 bag each week, but DO NOT USE A CARWASH
