New to Subaru-Advice Please
Hi guys,
Having never owned one of these babies, I have no clue what to look for.
Basically I need a bigger car, but don't want to sacrifice performance.
I currently own a Type R Civic.
Budget is about £12,500.
I was looking at a 2002 (Bug Eye I think) WRX with PPP.
Or should I be trying to get a facelift model WRX without PPP??
Any advice would be great.
Thanks

personally id get blob eye. some starting to knoc about in your budget range. or 15K will get you a brand new euro import. PPP can wait i think untill you have some more money. something to lookforward to then, almost like getting a new car when you get it fitted.

yeap I would go for the blob eye if you could and forget about the ppp and do different mods at a later stage when money permits, alot of people comment on the performance gains of the PPP vs Cost comparied to other options.
Warning, If you get hooked on this moding thing then the PPP would soon be redundant anyway as you will go down the bigger turbo, engine remaping, etc... route.

Hello there James !
As you know, I`ve already got PPP, and can`t recommend it highly enough, but TBH, I`d agree with what the guys above have said, and try and get hold of a blob-eye, without PPP if need-be.
The rationale behind that is that there were quite a few revisions made from bug to blob-eye, and as such, they are a better car, ie; more power/better handling, and, as has been pointed out, you can achieve a higher power output from independent mods, for less money than it costs to PPP.
Don`t get me wrong, as I`ve said, I think the PPP is superb, but one of the benefits of it is that you get to fully retain your warranty, with no hassle if something goes wrong, but on the year of car that you`re in the market for, the original warranty will probably all-but have expired, so you lose that benefit straight away.
I must admit, had I not bought mine new, then I probably would`ve gone down the independent-mod route, but that`s not to criticise the PPP, because it`s luuuurrverrrly.....................
Hope this helps.

hey dexter, have you considered a classic, for that price you could pick up a really nice type R or RA, both 0-60 in bout 4.4 secs and to hundred in bout 11, they're great all round cars, but sometimes a bit much to handle.... anyway just thought i'd give a few options......

Don't be put off buying a bugeye though, I own one and have started getting a few mods done. Having an ecutek remap in a few weeks and can't wait!!
If you're good at saving buy a blobeye and save for mods. If not, buy a bugeye and spend the savings on exhaust, filter, remap, headlight conversion!!
That way you get to make it your own without having to wait for the pennies to build up.
(or buy a top notch classic - I have to admit I've seen some stunners about !)
