Default painting my engine

hi the red paint on the top of the manifold is peeling awat and want to get it repainted.

would red hammrite smooth paint be ok for this?

have been looking for a high temp paint but they all seam to come in spray can form and not a paint in a tin.

I used some halfords brake caliper paint (about a fiver).

Came up quite nice

that looks v good m8, did you get all the old red off first, or just paint over the old red that was stuck on?

also what tools/method did u use?

yeah we did and used the same thing.

We Pealed of the bits that were already peeling and then painted over the rest. Will probably take 3 coats though - to get the nice deep red colour - like shown in the photo.

thanks v much, will have to pop along there tomorrow and have a look, can you see the lines from the old paint?

and at around a £5 it sounds like a bargin!!

It looks pretty trick..........how did you do it? Remove all the ancilliary parts first, or just VERY carefully?

How long does it take to do?

That's what I did. I removed the breather pipes and coil pack, then removed most of the crappy paint. Then went round it very carefully armed with paper towel and white spirit just incase! In the picture, it had only had one coat!
