Default A thought about the recent thefts ...

When I was younger I owned a few RS2000's (MK2) and they were stolen very frequently, not with violence like today but still stolen. Anyway a few people sussed that a lot of thefts took place after shows and local meets etc.. and that perhaps people were turning up to these type of event and then following people home to find where they lived and then coming back another time for the car. It's just a thought, perhaps be wary of being followed home when you're out and about or coming back from events etc..

The problems these days is forums like this are a potential shop window for thieves as people tend to list every detail about their car, where they live and when they're going on hoilday etc.

The world was very different in the days of the MK2 RS2000, nicking spotlamps & wheel centres was just about the lot back then.

Today, well.....

It was only different because no violence was used but the RS2000 was the most stolen car of its day and there were no fancy trackers etc.. either, the best security was Yale locks and a hidden switch that cut the ignition and most cars never came back, usually they became rally cars. My main point was to be careful about getting followed home from events etc..

Is the violence and drastic measures that are taken, because of the security we now have in place to protect our possessions.

- It is much better for them to have the keys - And for that they either have to mug you or break into your home to get them.

- It's (supposedly) much easier to get the police involved (most people have very rapid access to a phone nowadays)

I could go on for ever, but I'll leave that to Pete
