How fast are DB9's!!!!
Was passenger in a 360 brake evo 6 tonight. Came across a very rare convertible aston martin db9. Ok we had a bad and heavily laggy start but jesus christ i could not believe how much of a gap he created right up to about 100mph. Came to a bend and he was history but it was ultimately rapid, looked great and sounded awsome! It surprised me as this evo usually eats 360 modenas for breakfast and s**ts on 911's.
I am also of the opinion that evos handle better than scoobs. This maybe just because of the outstanding turn-in ability..they do not know how to understeer, its quite amazing! VERY **** happy in the wet though.
I am a bit gutted about this! How does this work when the scoob is a far better balanced car.. i.e. flat 4 sat lower to the floor, gearbox sat behind instead of along side the engine. This should make the car superior to the evo but it doesnt...well in my opinion it doesnt. The evo is much lighter back end but it still feels like it grips more. It therefore has to point to the chassis setup.... who agrees?

4WD and a turbo usually makes a car lighteningly quick off the line, but if already moving the huge torque of an Aston V8 will take some beating, especially when you get over the ton. The Evo will be out of breath by 140 whilst the DB9 will keep pulling to over 180. As for the Evo being better handling than a Scoob, there is a lot of electric trickery goes into keeping them things on the road, and when you push them beyond the abilities of the AYC programmer back in Japan things can (and do in my experience) get messy. It's funny how it's always the Evo's on my trackdays that crash

I would have thought the gap between the cars would have been only a couple of inches. I cant see why their was such a big gap upto 100mph.
The 0-60 of the DB9 is just 4.9, hell i ran better 0-60's than that. So that Evo should have been pulling them in 4.5's and sticking level with the DB9
Top end is 186 which would destroy you mind, and its got 450bhp and 420ft/torque which would have ripped ya up top end. It should have been vaguely close though until its pure grunt took over.

doesn't really matter, does it?
The key thing being was that you got beaten by an Aston
I wouldn't care what rice rocket I was driving. It's the same analagy (sp?) as us Scooby/Evo drivers nearly being spanked by Nova/Saxo etc blah blah blah.
At the end of the day, they'll still be highly modded Novas and Saxos. We've got the real deal.
The same applies to the Aston. I know what I'd prefer, and it certainly wouldn't be the Evo.....

Engine infront of the front wheels, also alot of weight upfront and not much at the rear. For ideal balance all the weight needs to behind the front wheels (and infront of the rear wheels). Coupled with a pretty good rear suspension setup and a farmyard basic Mcpherson strut front suspension. Where really to counteract the front end weight a multilink design with some sort of upper wishbone to give better control of the overall geometry is something the chassis would benefit from immensly IMO. Which I'm sure owes a fair amount blame for its nose wide antics and why an Impreza has to be driven with a "slow in, fast out" approach on bends to get the best out of it.
