P1 vs MY05 STi with 333
How would the sti compare to the P1?
Would there be any difference between the two or would it be a close run thing?
A friend has just brought one and he thinks hes the dogs lol (well he aint that wrong really) but I was thinking what other scooby would give him a fright?
What about the WRX300? would this be able to keep up?

i have just sold a P1 with a tek3 remap (290 bhp) and now got a sti 05 with rcm tuning (350 bhp)
had a play with a 03 sti (a good friend he had 333 from TSL) on the m/way and it was very even from 50 up to *** and on. The P1 just pulled past him when we got over *30
my new sti is a lot faster then my old P1
had the P1 on the P of MPH when looking at the speedometer past the 160 mark

If you went JDM v P1 then the JDM would be the winner, better gearing and more torque, less drag though heavier (the gearing/drag and torque come into play here) it would pull away happily, though the standard air filter is a bit restrictive towards the top end of the rev range.
A PPP'd MY05 should also be quicker than a P1 (12.2? v 13.2 to 100mph) and should also have a nice advantage with in gear torque over the P1 (plus better at higher speeds due to the air intake over the intercooler, better air flow etc and with the A-DCCD should also be putting more bhp on the road).

At the same road speed, how much lower are the transmission losses through a DCCD-A drivetrain compared with conventional viscous centre Tony? What data do you have on this?
On a viscous diff at 100 mph mine were below 50 BHP on a Bosch dyno with RWD stuff at about 30 BHP IIRC. Seems to depend more on the dyno and the gearing I reckon.

I agree on the torque of the recent JDMs, but I think the gearing on the P1 is spot on and I didn't notice any charge temperature problems on the VF28 at sensible boost on the P1 at high speeds.
Not being a GC8 luddite, but I think some of the information is spurious and misleading.

The DCCD does come in handy when donuting at Maccy d's to impress the 13 year old birds though

Well i got took out in it yesterday and man was it fast lol. Certianly faster than the standard STi i took on a test drive earlier that day. I know that I would need a car that has either ppp or triple 3 as to not be left behind but it didnt feel as solidly built as the newer models.
