Clarkson did a good piece comparing the two aswell, testing them on the Isle of Man (?) but he couldn't split the cars from each other.
He reckoned Mitsubishi had 'softened up' the Evo and Subaru had made the STi mroe aggressive, (performance wise).
He found it impossible to recommend one over the other but he finished by saying that at the end of each days shoot, the car he drove back to the hotel was...........the STi

Evo vs Scooby = Evo better track day proposition, Scooby better everyday proposition. Both great, you pay your money you take your choice.

In a weeks time there's going to be one of each in the family! My son Chris is trading his 03 STi for an EVO IX FQ 320 I cant afford to do that anymore so my 03 STi stays for a while yet!
He test drove the demonstrator and three up it was noticably quicker than the PPP'd STi and it only had a few hundred miles on the clock. There are good and bad bits on each, but power aside, I think the Subaru is more substantial and a bit better built. With the unfortunate image the Scoob is attracting in some quarters, and if money was no object, I have to admit I'd be tempted.

I drove the evo too then went for a sti ppp instead, I dont personally think the evo was quicker or a surefooted as the sti, otherwise I would have bought instead

Hi mate, yes he did. Again, said there wasn't much in it but the build quality and cabin were better on the Scoob and all round the slightly better car. Which is nice.
