i use millers power boost on my sti8.

raises the octane about 2ron, so with optimax it should be near 100ron, which helps the cars power and stops it leaning out at the top a bit more.

as far as i know most imports arent mapped to british fuel so may be a good idea. for all it costs.

£2.50-£3.50 depending on who you get it from or who you know

Some Imprezas need it more than others. An early TDo4-equipped 'Wagon will just about be alright on Optimax; whereas a TD05 car or any car manufactured after the octane rating of Japanese 'Premium' fuel was raised will need octane booster.

so 1 bottle would boost a tank by about 2 octane, If you are ment to use 2 bottle's per tank.

Probably, but its recommended that you fill up 25 litres with one bottle of cvl turbo. My brother has the same car as yourself and he uses this stuff and says the car feels awesome.

You dont get a linear increase in RON from octane booster. For example; NF Race adds 2 points per ml/litre. Increasing the dosage to 2ml per litre of fuel adds one further octane point.

as far as i know most imports arent mapped to british fuel so may be a good idea.
I have a MY05 JDM STi and I do not use octane boosters. Instead, I just had it mapped for UK fuel, although I was recommended to use Optimax (98 RON) or Tesco's (99 RON); and this is what I have done apart from one tankload of Sainsburys (97 RON) ... which didn't seem to affect it all as I was still running it in and not pushing it.

Indeed I was reassured that 97 RON fuel was OK for running about in and getting me home but I should not push the revs/go 'on boost' too much if I did. Something to do with there being intelligent electronics that can work out what fuel is in the car and, to a point, can adjust the timings accordingly.

As a precaution however, I've now bought some Millers Octain Booster through the 'group buy' and have put the bottles with the spare wheel so that if I get caught short at any time I can put practically anything in it with the appropriate number of bottles of booster to ensure that the engine doesn't go 'phut' before I can get some Optimax or Tesco fuel in it.

why not get car mapped for optimax, seems to be a lot of faffing about if you need to use octane booster every tank for minimal gains in the real world-apart from david wallis

Or with the way fuel prices are going, why not map for normal 95 octane unleaded and accept that the days of driving our Scoobs around foot to the floor are just over... :-( I'm sure my wagon would still be a pretty decent performer if it was optimised for 95 RON, and it would be a hell of a lot cheaper to run.

Still gutting to have to think like that, but there comes a point where it's mental to be spending £3 or £4 more for a tankful than everyone else just for those occasions when you decide to cane it about!
