If your going to Newcastle, Get booked into the Travelodge on the Quayside. It has it's own underground car park. CCTV & everything. The only place I stay when staying over in the Toon.

Safest place I know is Hazlewood Castle on the A64 10 mins from york. has a car park with electric gates on. Quite pricey though.

In York itself the parking isnt terribly clever. The best I can probably think of is Queens Hotel

I stay in PremierTravelinns all over the country and never had any trouble, and I have spent tons on my car. As said above though, Quayside is a good place to start but you have to pre-book the parking spaces, see www.premiertravelinn.co.uk (plus it's in the middle of all the decent bars
