Anyone put a newage on a diet?
I'm moving closer to work, meaning that the Scoob can be a true weekend car so...
Has anyone significantly reduced the weight of their newage? What order should things be done?
I'm thinking spare wheel and jack (replaced by tyre foam), electric window motors, lighter doorcards (cf??), lightweight seats, no ICE. My only compromise to luxury HAS to be air con - couldn't live without it
I'm reluctant to remove the back seats cos they weigh absolutely nothing - one door card is just as heavy (ish).
Is it worth doing? I'm hoping for a more responsive, more chuckable toy - this isn't for rallying, or even trackdays...yet. Just for fun.

Can't bring myself to do it - unless you know anyone that wants to swap a 7.5k mile 53 plate blob eye for a classic RA with under 30k miles...

Treat the tyres; dont rely on 'tyreweld' type rubbish. lift/remove the carpets and remove the heavy sound deadening beneath. Remove the boot carpet. Replace the standard wheels with lighter ones, dont increase the size though as youll be adding to the cars weight... Fit a lighter exhaust but remember that if you remove the cats (necessary) youll need a re-map no matter what youre told. An aluminium bootlid and thin side glass would be nice too if you can find them. Some carbon fibre bonnets can save a reasonable amount of weight too, but please paint it!

remove all the seats bar drivers, spare wheel, door cards and boot trim, glove box, tools etc, and save yourself 75 quid.....costs you bugger all and makes a huge difference

Back to the classic. My RA has A/C, ICE, Full electric pack and weighs in at 1260kg with a full tank.
You could easily get this down to under 1200kg.
You'd probably clear about £4/5k by doing the deal on you new age which would buy you a whole heap of power.

Lightened flywheel and engine pulleys may have a double benefit..... Consider using competition orientated tyres as well (real comp tyres though, not soft compound road tyres), these weight much less than a road tyre but you have to expect that theyll be less durable too.

lightweight wheels all round, 4 standard wheels with normal tyres = 64kgs....im sure you could get a set of rims with tyres that weigh 40 odd...

I know as I weighed one and as this wouuld have added aprox. 25kgs of (unsprung..!) weight to my WRX I passed the offer..!
Fully decatting saved a suprising amount of weight 12kgs.
Space saver spare= 13kgs
jack= 2kgs
tools (less toe eye) 2kgs
3mm kaylen flaps & brackets= +2.5kgs
20mm to 22mm adj. R. ARB +0.7kgs
Solid alloy droplinks -250g
WRX to STI TMIC + 1.3kgs
Must blag my way onto the local weigh bridge..!
