Come and watch SDB drive the Zero Car on Tour Britannia this week
Our very own Simon de Banke will be driving the zero car on next week's Tour Britannia.
Driving 15 minutes in-front of the first car, they're running from Monday 5th to Wednesday 7th.
Simon's co-driver is Jamie Adamson (ex chief technician for prodrive, and current partner in scoobysport).
The cars entered in the event are amazing. From Ford GT40's, to Porsches, Ferraris, Mustangs, Lotus, BMWs, etc, etc. So it will interesting to see how the Scooby Type R fares against that kind of machinery.
Whilst they are not officially competing, the zero car is the first opening car to drive at competition speeds to check the stages are ready for competition, so expect a bit of Scooby Action!
Come out and give them some support. Check out the Tour Britannia website for information on what circuits / stages they'll be at when. http://www.tourbritannia.com/
Regards,
Shaun

Hi All
Just got back to parc ferme after leg 2.
The scoob is going very well indeed. API gave it a bit of a fettle prior to the event, and it hasn't missed a beat.
The tyres are horrible, and the brakes have had it, but apart from that its going well.
The main competition appears to be Bellm's and Newey's GT40s. I have to say I hadn't seen one being driven properly in the flesh until this afternoon (when we hung around at rockingham for a bit of a watch), and I'm now a little less gutted at being slaughtered by them on the majority of the stages. They've given us hell!
But we're holding our own with the rest. We set 3rd fastest time at MIRA today. It was on the Dunlop circuit unfortunately. If it had have been the wet circuit I would fancy our chances at the fastest time round there.
Manby yesterday was great fun, it was incredibly slippy when we went through, which made for a fantastic stage, but dried out quickly after so our times were nowhere near. I think about 8th or 9th.
We were destroyed at Swinderby by the big power boys which was mildly crushing!!
But all in all, its been a lot of fun, and the safety side of our job has been pretty straight forward due to the event being well run, etc. I think it will become a great event in future years.
Best fun so far was rockingham. We realised there wasn't a hope in hell of a fastest time, or even being slightly competitive (big power was going to win easily) so we went for the full showboating instead. It was great fun. It's nice to know you've still got it!! even if you've become old and slow!
Was nice to see a few scoobynetters out there. But tomorrow will be the best day I think, so it would be great to see some more of you! Give us a wave, and come and say hello if you're around.
Cheers
Simon

Well what a great event.
We didn't set any blistering times on wednesday, although we gave weston park a good punt, but were only about 8th fastest - which was fairly demoralising .
Thanks to the s'netters who came out to watch. Hope you had a good day.
Cheers
Simon
PS. I want to say thanks to API. The car ran beautifully for the three days.

Thanks Simon! glad to know that all went well, Thanks also to ' Pat the Mapper ' who we trusted to get it running safe and sound on an interim setting, until we get the big turbo and injectors.
The boys here that have worked on your car will be chuffed to bits.
Thanks again mate see you soon.
