It’s going to climb even higher before too long. This hurricane state side has damaged refineries which in the short term is going to drive the price up further. More supply is supposed to be coming online at the end of the year though. Government needs to lower tax on petrol if you ask me – this is going to start driving up inflation.

Government is using the taxes to pay for things you and I want ............... like free medical help at the point of need!!

They can keep my money - I need the ambulance there when I keel over, thank you very much!!

OPEC have stated that there is no need for oil to be the price it is ...... its the traders that are the villains of the piece!!

LOL the price of oil has gone up again today because of the hurricane in the USA.. I kid you not..!

It's like the chaos theory analogy (sp?) 'a butterfly beats it's wings in Japan it causes an earthquake the other side of the planet'... only more like 'someone farts somewhere and the price of oil goes through the roof..!'

lol How come the price of fuel never seems to go down..? Except that is when it's about to go up (drop it 2p, a week later it goes up 4p...!!!!!!!

Mugs I tell ya, all of us..!!!!

PS where does all the extra revenue generated go..?

Yes fair point you want your free medical - but why does the revenue for that have to come from fuel tax. A lot of other countries seem to be able to get away with lower taxation on fuel! Why can't they tax something else higher? The old guilt trip tactics aren't going to work on me as far as this one is concerned I am afraid. Shell et al make their billion dollar profits accross the world on a variety of products (all plastics are made from oil) - I am sure just a tiny fraction comes from the UK motorist.

I'm surprised we've not seen another fuel strike. The last one was when fuel was cheaper than it is today. Maybe the guy who organised it has been 'dealt with' by the government.

It'll never get much cheaper so I guess it's just pay up and look happy. Sad way to look at it I know but unless the whole country get behind a strike and make it more effective than the last one I don't see our beloved Government taking a blind bit of notice.

oh well... off to fit a solar powered motor to my push bike... ahhh not enough sun... bugger!

Obvious solution....take out your flat four, stick in a diesel lump and run it off vegetable oil. Alternatively, get a cheap flight to the USA, fill up some gerry cans with ridiculously cheap US fuel and get back on the plane to blighty. You would probably save money and have made a much more generous contribution to global warming by using air travel!

No tax on aviation fuel and that does a massive amount of damage to the environment as it's happened at high altitude. Talk about double standards! They use damage to environment as one reason to tax petrol so high and then show no concern with aviation fuel. It's all propaganda and they really do take us for idiots.

however according to the BBC only US fuel prices should be affected beause the oil from the gulf of mexico and the refineries are all for US domestic petrol.

saudia arabia have also said that they will increase their daily output to cover any shortfall form the hurricane

You shouldn't put that rubbish in your Scoob Pete. Optimax only - has the additives. Your risking a blow up.

Medical care when people who are rat ar$$ed and cant stand up straight

The list is endless, really its people who are putting the price of fuel up as people are making the mess that needs tidying. obviously non of us are like thia as we respect people more (i hope)

Someone at work printed of an e-mail [so ican't post it], stating a method to cut fuel costs, i believe a few years back people tried to boycott petrol stations, mad as it's used everyday.

Well the new method is to boycott the two biggest fuel suppliers, meaning they'll have to reduce the cost of their fuel meaning others will follow suit, [somehow don't think it'll work, but hey], they are BP and Esso.

So feel free to buy your petrol else where, how about trying Tesco's new 99Ron

Just thought i'd throw in my two bob's worth.
