driving along the M6 late last night....and my check engine light came on for no reason..!!....any body out there know what it could be??....it came on and then off within 5 seconds....Help!!!!is she going to die??.....it's only got 34k on the clock(MY98)

Did you notice if the speedo reading failed just before the light came on?

I cannot recall any surge or speedo reading failure....everything appeared normal....bar the speed of course!!!!

Munna,

Get it to a dealer and have them look at it with their techy stuff. As the car is under warranty it won't / shouldn't cost anything for a going over.

Munna, does your car have the diagnostic plugs under the dash? If it has mail me offline and I can come and have a look for you if you wish. Is the car still under waranty?

I had exactly the same thing happen to me early on sunday morning.I was late to get to Manchester airport and the check engine light came on and stayed on for about 6 minutes then went out.I figured there was nothing I could do if I did stop, as oil and water etc was checked a couple of days ago. I was glad when it did go out though. I'll get it checked out later in the week.
