What is it about the SUBARU?Why me?
Hi guys . .I'm completely new to this . . .
Last month took delivery of a WRX300(Limited edition) . .Always dreamt of owning one . .Test drove it, instantly fell in love with it and soon enough was asking the dealer to wrap it up!
Could all you nice people please tell me what exactly is it about the Subaru that at times attracts so much unwelcome attention . .God save us . .Yesterday had some **** try race me in Brabus Smart Car was giving it . . I mean . What will they think of next . .IT is , so I've noticed, people in the most unlikely cars that try and ruin my driving pleasure . .On the opposite side, most normal people realise they don't stand a chance and politely more out of the way . .What are your feelings on this and how do you deal with it?
I suppose living in London as soon as you drive in the West end , its almost inevitable people will get aggressive!
And one more thing . .I need some advice . .How do you restrain yrself from hammering yr Subey averywhere . .Every time the tach reaches 3000 rpm, it's like the car is saying to me "Let's go faster - you know we can do it" . .By buying a Subaru, have I actually joined a cult of some sort?
Hope to hear from you soon, and thanks in advance!

If you leave it standard then you are joining a unique rare group of very wise people.
Its a bargain car capable of great things .... some people think they are clever and modify them - they then blow-up and end their lives on the chavvie council estates in the dark corners of the country.
You will love it, just don't change it!!

. .But why the unwanted attention?

Welcome to the grin club mate!
Don't worry about the d1cked's trying to race you, you don't have the fastest car in the world and neither do they.
Yes and ignore Pete, and you'll be OK.

Yes, don't listen to lewis - he's boring and jealous that those of us who have modified get more attention than him OK, probably not jealous of mine LOL.
Don't expect that grin to ware off though, mine hasn't and have owned her for 2.5 years now

I tend to find Astra diesels the worst - either the van version or the estate... Regularly get a few deliberately pulling out on me on the way to work... What infuriates me more than anything is when it's on a motorway and they don't move over to let you pass (they're more than happy to sit in the "fast" lane trundling along at 65, despite the half mile or more of empty lanes to the left of them)
I just bide my time until a straight comes and bolt it past

I seem to get people doing this type of gesture to me . And it isn't because of my driving. I can be pootling along minding my own business only to see a couple smirking or looking all judgemental. Usually people in newish cars, irrespective of make. Perhaps it's because I live in a rather snotty area. I don't know, I just smile back politely and get on my way. I enjoy my car and if it gets a response then its better than attracting disinterest I suppose.

Seeing as we are now talking about irritating/dangerous drivers who drive too close and aggresively, for me it's either:
sad beer bellied fat bald men with obvious inferiority complexes in those big camper/doormobile Ford Galaxy/Toyota Previa MPV carbuncles - complete with politically correct 'Baby On Board' stickers to show his feminine side.
ditto vehicles but women using mobile phones whilst driving and carrying a load of kids or en-route whilst on the school/gymkana/Mc Donalds run.
macho shaven-headed, but essentially fat unfit slobs in RAV4's or similar Off-Road SUV's with bullbars, bling wheels and a slitty eyed 'laydee' with a Croydon Facelift.
Rant over.

welcome to subaru ownership
ive only had my wrxppp for 2 months now and ive found some things out
1. the cars ability to get from A-B on empty roads is awesome
2. you need a road angel and KEEP TO THE SPEED LIMITS ROUND TOWN!!!!!
3. people do move out the way on the motorway and you never need to flash them or tailgate
4. audi RS4's and BMW M5's are much faster
5. you become the envy of chavs
6. passengers can be reduced to quivering wrecks if you drive the **** of it.

"Don't worry about the d1cked's trying to race you, you don't have the fastest car in the world and neither do they".
Well said that man, he speaks the gospel.
At the end of the day, you own a decent performance car on a decent budget, if that doesn't sound too condescending enough.
Bangs for bucks, it's value.
I hope you get the chance to enjoy its lineage someday on an open (private) road).
