Default Pod 1/4 mile time

I have owned a WRX for 3 weeks now so it was the first time i have raced it down at pod. I was the first scooby on the track and i layed a 14.116 @ 96mph.
I thought this time was good, then i was looking at other scooby times and some were running in the 12 second 1/4 time, and 95% of them were old school scoobys.
I have a uprated cluch so that i can rev at 5500rpm and let go with out the clutch slipping so that has helped a lot, HKS blow off valve, HKS exhaust and downpipe, running 0.8-0.9bar, and air adjuster set up at jap tuning.
This set upgave me the 14.116 1/4 mile time.
What else would i have to do to drop 2 seconds so that i could run in the 12 like the other scoobs?
I also had spair wheel x2 12" subs, amp, jack in the car so i could have taken them out but i dont think that it would knock off a lot.

On the other hand you could say doing the 1/4 mile is boring and try something with some corners in it?

I have asked a Question so if you dont have a reply to the question dont reply with telling me what you think that i should be doing. I like racing 1/4 mile so i will race 1/4 mile, if i want to go round bends i ******* will.

You are gonna need a large power hike to drop 2 seconds.
For 12's you are gonna need high 300's at a guess

WRX, for your first go with a fairly standard car I feel your time was respectable, if you speak to the fellas that where doing 12's I think you will find they where fairly modified. Nothing wrong with 1/4 mile runs, takes a lot of skill and dedication to do well, 100% no room for any mistakes unlike roundy roundy racing. Keep at it and the best of luck

My classic did 13.2 at just over 100 when it was 311bhp and 293lbft. It had a little more I think but I was quite fond of my gearbox and diffs. I also took it to Pod when it just had a back box and IIRC ran about 14.2 so I think youre time is quite respectable. My mate is at USC this weekend in a 4wd Saff Coss with 380bhp and he ran a 12.8 yesterday.

1/4 miles are fun and I get a right buzz off it so who cares about the corners! Plenty of corners on the back roads on the way there!

Enjoy!

LOL yeah corners are for losers. Well I'm no expert on quarter miling in a Scooby, but I spent the last 5 years quarter miling and tuning a FWD Clio (13.35@107mph in the end) and 2 seconds off your ET is no mean feat, whatever way you look at it. Assuming there's nothing wrong with your launch technique, it comes down to three basics - less weight, more power, more traction. Less weight costs nothing, just strip your interior, leave the spare wheel/jack etc at home. More power - well you can spend what you want there... More traction...run smaller wheels & much higher profile tyres, forget circuit slicks or semi-slicks, they're a mug's game, you want soft sidewalls and high profiles- drag tyres in other words. Put in a cerametallic paddle clutch so you can dump it all day long, then it's just a matter of time over which is the weakest link in the drivetrain LOL

The newer scoobs are also ~250kg heavier than the earlier classic scoobs. That's why the classics seem a little quicker. I am running a few mods on my MY95 UK classic Saloon and estimate power at 275ish (bum dyno). I get a 13.2 @ 106.7mph. I could probably get this down a little with better launch technique.

0.8-0.9bar boost isn't a great deal. I am running approx 1.25bar but I am also running an Apexi Power FC ecu which has been mapped for this amount of boost. It all depends on how much you want to spend but once the bug has bitten, it gets expensive

WRX's are heavy at nearly 1400kg (Sti type UK's are 1470kg!!) especially when you think tha classics are 1235kg and the lightweight sti5 type R's would of been about 1260kg. Have a play around with my site and you'll see what difference weight makes.

Well i spoke to a rather interesting man from Iceland this week who was having his Scooby prepared for his Son to run at Santa Pod this weekend i believe. He showed me his 1/4 mile runs on his lap top from his last blast.
I believe the quickest run was 9.93 seconds at 145mph.....now that's fast.
Cost him a few quid though to get the fastest Scooby in Europe i think...that's alot of dosh to knock off a few seconds!
Very nice car...made mine look very ordinary..

if u want to be in the 12`s
this is the sort of spec u want

uprated fuel pump
intercooler (front mount or one of andy.f`s silly top mounts)
remaped ecu (apexi power fc is a better option)
exhaust
decat
tdo5 turbo or bigger running 1.4bar ish
air filter
and your injectors wanna be 440cc min

i think that will do it
what u guys think

I've just managed to squeeze into the 12's in a bugeye sti running 330bhp and 308lb/ft

Spec has been unchanged for a while, its just taken some time and practise to improve my technique. Been running low 13's consistently but managed to have a spot on run and get a 12.8

So I'd suggest adding practise to the list of power, weight and traction. A quickshift might help as well.

MY98 UK Wagon with PPP got 13.7 at Pod.

Not has chance to run the Sti 5 yet, but expecting it to be quicker.
