It's blue with 15k miles and like new (aside from a few stone chips)

Is £17,500 fair?

Friend of mine considered selling his couple of weeks ago, pretty much as above but slightly higher mileage. Dealer bids were £12,500-£14,000....
Guess they dont hold their money like they used to

£17,500 - £7,500 for the gold wheel handicap and - £5,000 for the Tinted windows, so £5,000 i'll offer that

TBH, i wouldnt pay more than £16,000 for a 2 yr old car, regardless of what it was, i allways think its more dificult to sell a car that is 2-4 yrs old than one that is 5 or more (more people with a budget that fits i suppose)

Was offered 14k for mine as a part-ex with local dealer today (against a new SL WRX wagon) - cash price they offered was 13k.

Bit gutted - have only had it for 5 months and paid 20k (lost 6k in 5 months) :O

Saw a dealer selling one very close to it for £15, 500 at the weekend.

They aren't selling either. There were 3 02 STi's on here for a while and going for about 12k - one went for £9.5k!

There's quite a few 03's at £16k that arent shifting. If you're patient you will get your price, I suspect even if you drop it a bit people aren't buying. Ill be looking soon and know I can take my pick!

Aint that the truth Dark Blue Mark. If you want a quick sale you have to take what your offered, if you can afford to wait then you are more likely to get what you want.

Sometimes its not about the price but more about the lack of people actually looking for what your selling in the right part of the country.

Exactly Gary, I know that from having the displeasure of selling a few scoobs over the years If someone comes on here and is after one they will buy it - its just timing.

As a buyer though, you've got a lot of clout when the're are so many to choose from.

The ever increasing number of the new scoobs on the road doesn't help either. It means that something which previously was very much a specialist market is now being flooded from the front end. The number of people looking for second hand cars of this ilk doesnt seem to be as great as the number buying new. Therefore you get an in balance and it becomes a buyers market.


Of course the new car price drop has its effect too

The dealers I visited today wouldn't lower their prices

Even when I said that I could get an import model £4k cheaper they wouldn't budge - just the response "well, it'll be harder to sell..."

I thought now might have been a good time to get a good deal on a new scooby (what with the face lifted model coming out soon, etc.)

I wouldnt buy new personally. You can get serious discount on a well looked after one with a few k on it. Sod the stealers!

You always get a better price selling it private than taking it to the dealers. If you advertise it private you'll soon get a good idea of what people are willing to pay when they start coming to view it.
