Default Wheel balance weights on a WRX STI

One of my pet hates is the type of wheel balancing weights that are stuck onto the outside rim of alloy wheels. My 53 WRX STI has them and they look even worse than on other alloys given that they're silver against the gold alloys. Has anyone had them changed for the stick-on-the-inside-of-the-rim-type weights?

It looks like the front calipers are so big that there wouldn't be enough clearance, but I'm hoping it can be done...

I'm fairly sure you can put them on the back of the rim or stick on ones as you say.

I've got a new set of wheels for mine (P1-WRC Prodrive) and it looks like it would be impossible to clip weights to the outside of the rim as there is no lip. Guess it would have to be stick on or on the back. I'll find out in a few weeks when I get some tyres fitted to them

I wouldn't want them on the outside anyway, they have wrecked my 16" wheels, rubbed away the paint in one place and they always leave marks. But they will be my track day wheels from now on

Putting them on the inside wouldn't solve it - don't forget wheels are weighted both sides as to balance them! It would have to be stick on!

Very nearly came to blows with the tyre fitter on this one, and thank god i checked in when i did.

Was having 4 tyres changed(sourced on ebay and needed to be independantly fitted [SP] ) AND YES HE HAD JUST banged TWO BLOODY Great weights to the outside of my rim

I very calmly told him to remove said weights and use stick on ones. And yes when he removed the ones he had banged on, some lovely scratches on my up till then perfect alloy.

I just hate stupid people

You can balance the wheel with the weights in the centre. If say it needs 10g on the outside and 5g on the inside edge, you put 7.5g in the middle between the two imbalanced points.
