This is my opinion on JDM WRX auto Wagon, MY96. 67000miles
It is a brilliant car, the auto box gives smooth and fast gear changes.
As for performance, well I can guarantee you will not be disapointed.
You can choose three modes on the gears,
1) Stick it in D and let the car decide on gear changes.
2)As above but select the Sport mode, this makes the gears change higher up the rev band.
3)Use the stick to select gears, you decide when to change gears.
I've never lost a 'traffic light grand prix' and nobody has been able to get past me on the open roads. (maybe I have more bottle than other drivers?)
Although with less H.P. than WRX saloons, the TD04 turbo scrolls up quicker and the max torque peaks lower down the rev range, this combined with the auto box gives excellent acceleration.
Oh, there is one more thing...the kickdown, when you are tootling along and some d*ck is trying to caress your bumper with the nose of his car, just floor it and the 'box drops down a cog or two, this is a fantastic sensation and is guaranteed to push you back in your seat.
Another plus is when you are in heavy traffic, no clutch to keep pumping.
I keep saying this to manual drivers..don't knock it till you've tried it.
I paid £5500 for mine last August with a 12 month Mechanical Breakdown insurance.

In my experience; £4,000 would be a high price to pay for an automatic 1995 WRX; GF8 or GC8. Speaking of the saloon; the automatic GC8 shares the same 220PS TD04 equiped engine with the automatic 'Wagon.
