Default Mudflaps useful?

Do mudflaps actually serve a purpose in reducing stone chips or anything. I've never been a big fan, but I have to say I'm starting to warm to them in quite a big way. There are some tasty looking flapped up motors pictured on this site.

Car definitely seems to stay cleaner longer. never eliminate the spray but it certainly helps and if the spray isn't hitting the bodywork, it is a fair bet the stones aren't either (in fact you can hear them more in the wheel arch I'm sure but much better hitting tough ABS than thin paint )

Particularly good if you've got colour-coded sills ... the front wheels spray up a lot of crap and the bit just in front of the front doors gets wrecked without mudflaps.

Plus they look

I think they look lovely and really finish the scoob off, will be fitting mine in the next day or two

And if they actually do the job their supposed to, then all well and good.

What he said!!! I had my car colour coded and managed to have a pesky stone take a bite out of one of my colour coded skirts not more than a few days later. Got some mudflaps put on shortly thereafter and have since had no visible damage from road debris.

I'm undecided about the looks on mine, but as my office is located in the middle of a cattle farm I need all the help I can get keeping the car clean!

One thing's for sure, though, they look much better than the case of gravel rash my last car, which didn't have flaps, ended up sporting. I say go for it.

Went down one the of country lanes local to me only to find to my horror the road had been re-surfaced and the stones sounded like a sand blaster on the side of the car - and that was at 10mph with lorries overtaking me.

Had a face down to my RS and got out expecting to see bare metal body panels. The mudflaps must have done their job becuase I couldn'r find one new mark.

Loads less tar spots on my White Wagon since fitting them. Definitely a good thing

Similar thing for me, sometimes I think yes they look good, then other times I'm thinking of taking them off..!
