I agree Jon.

Put £35.00 in my Classic which lasted me to work and back Mon-Friday. If I had a weekend jaunt it would be another fill up plus booster so on average I was doing £200.00 a month.

My mum gave me her Fiesta Si which has only done 38k from new and I've decided to run that to work (£20.00 a week) and I use the Subaru strictly for weekends and evenings. I'd say doing this only saves me £50.00 a month but at least that contributes to the insurance or something similar

I have to admit that using a Scoob for work as a commute car is a real PITA. I average around £45.00 per week of which 80% of the fuel was used for stop - start, traffic jam, stuck behind old tw@t in her Matiz type driving.

The question is, is it worth buying, taxing, insuring and maintaining another "runabout" type car. At the end of the day you have to still look at your car as a tool and it has to pay its way, so tbh, if and maybe when i get p1ssed off with paying such silly money out each week in petrol for the scoob, i'll probably resign myself to the fact that my disposable incomes is more needy elsewhere and it will outway the need for a performance car. Then i'll go and buy myself a 5 year old diesel golf

God i'm getting old

The thing to remember is that you are driving a car you enjoy!!

I've driven 30k+ in the last 18months in a Mondeo and Mazda 6 TDI estate car. Fuel econonmy was good but I hated driving the bloody things, and I was no better off than I am with my Scooby cause I just blew the cash I saved on fuel on other crap. Condsidering the mpg you're 'supposed' to get from a TDI, I used to get about 400-450 miles MAX (sometimes under 400 miles) out of £45 worth of diesel. The difference in economy for the way I drive a car is'nt as huge as some people make out.

I drive the Scoob, enjoy the experience and fill up when the needle reaches empty, and smile some more when I fill up anticipating the next 250-300 miles I'm going to enjoy driving

I'm only driving (to work) about 125 per week, and then the weekend

I put in about £25 - £30 per week

I probably don't drive it as much as I could, but once I'm at work, well, it ain't going anywhere (), than at the weekends, I'm doing family stuff/kids/shopping etc.....

Dont take any notice to be honest. If I did I'd probably think about changing to a diesel car .

have to admit I was expecting huge fuel bills, but driving to work everyday (60-70% motorway) and having had it for two weeks, I'm just about getting 25mpg at the moment.

MPG does drop a lot at the weekend when your'e driving with a slightly heavier foot on the pedal.

TBH its not that much worse than my previous car, Focus 1.8. Probably costs me £10 more a week, which is well worth it I reckon, for the difference in performance.

I'm spending at least £60 a week even though I'm running in and mostly around town. Haven't even got above 50mph yet.

Blimey! Some people don't even earn that LOL.

I spend around 35.00 per week but if I go out and about then I can add another tank of fuel for the weekend.

Fun using it though

I'm averaging 1800 miles a week at the moment, which I think means that I'm going to be able to buy Argos with the amount of nectar points I'm earning!!
I spend about £1100 per month on fuel !!!!!!
what a ridiculous amount - but lots of fun.

£30 per week on average ... but then I walk to work and drive like a Nun, which neatly leads into an old joke ... are we sitting comfortably children?? Then I'll begin...

Two nuns are traveling through Tansylvania in their Subaru. Suddenly, a diminutive vampire jumps onto the bonnet and starts scratching at the windshield!
"Quick, quick!!" shouts Sister Agatha, "What shall I do?"
"Turn the windshield wipers on, that will get rid of the abomination," replies the second.
She switches them on knocking the vampire about, but the wipers snap off (damned safety feature) and he clings on hissing loudly at the two nuns.
"What'll I do now?", squeals Sister Agatha.
"Switch on the windshield washer. I filled it up with Holy Water in the Vatican!" says the second.
The vampire screams as the water burns his skin, but he clings on and hisses at the nuns through bared teeth.
"Now what?" whispers a terrified Sister Agatha, staring at the malevolent and somewhat damp vampire on the other side of the glass.
"Show him your cross!" says the second.
So Sister Agatha rolls down the window and shouts: "GET OFF MY F**KING CAR!!"

...I never said it was going to be a good joke mind

I use about £50 per week for normal driving, and usually that again over the weekend for 'spirited' driving. I did a week once of 'conservative driving' but it doesnt make that much difference.

I've considered a second 'runabout' before but if you factor in buying a second car, insuring, maintaining it, tax, test and the fact it'll be **** compared to a scooby IMHO its usually worth just paying that bit extra on fuel.
