Wot no Petrol?

I fully support the farmers and Truckers.
Listening to the radio on Saturday a trucker from Wales said he started his business 5 years ago, he is now spending £400 a week more on fuel then 5 years ago.
I needed SUL on Saturday night, I stoped at £34, when I got the scooby 13 months ago it would have been about £26. Plus filling up the wife's Shogun I'm doing over a £100.
Fatty 2 Jags needs to sort his life out and get on the case, 60+ pence in the pound on tax is criminal !!!!!!
I actualy want to see the country grind to a 70's fuel crisis stop, then Sherrie Blair will have to get Fatty 2 jags to do something.

I was in Manchester over the weekend, but fortunately filled up in Chesterfield on the way so I was able to bet home again. The queues were mad, half the petrol stations shut and the rest causing big tail backs on the surrounding roads.
Hope it doesn't spread to the rest of the country !

Just heard that Purfleet has now been blocked.
Fuel in Kent may be getting low. I know that Tesco's in Larkfield are low.
"I'll have to see if I can still ride a push bike as I use a tank full a day."

Spent an hour (and 35 miles) to find an open petrol station last night, went past more than 20 with no stock or just closed. Ended up having to go to Motorway SS!
Shell are now saying majority of their Petrol Stations in the NW have no fuel!
Driven to work at 56mph for max mpg
Time Fatty Prescott put his actions where his mouth is!
The only plus side is between this and the Millenium Dome farce, the mad reds are less likely to be ruling next time

Good, lets hope that the truckers keep it up and ALL petrol stations end up being empty! Then the whole country will come to a standstill, and the government will have NO choice but to lower the taxation on fuel.
Personally I find the idea of a day off work cos I can't fill up quite nice!!!

Good old farmers/truck drivers ..
Getting back from the Midlands boys Welsh camping trip was fun ... we got caught up in slow moving tractors etc .. they have my backing 100% ... just wish I had a tractor and the gutts to join the demo outside my local fuel depot ...
now where's that petrol can .....

Good to a degree, but lets face it, until it brings London/Westminster to a halt, the Mad Reds, sorry the Government won't even notice.
In the meantime us northerners suffer - again.

Same problem here. The whole town is effectively gridlocked with cars queueing up outside petrol stations (I reckon 50 % have run out now near here)
Glad my cars going in for a new block tommorrow, hopefully I'll get a 1.1 Nissan Micra as a replacement. I can only do two days of commuting on a tank.

Alistair - I actually hope it does spread to the rest of the country. Living in London I haven't seen a thing, but my hat is off to all those making the effort. I'm not keen on a wasted day stuck in traffic, but I hope the whole of London comes to a stand still, and I'll be smiling if I'm stuck in it (preferably on the way to work please - that way it'll affect industry, rather than telly viewing figures ).

I had a chat with a lady working in the Esso garage just up from the Railway Station. She says they expect to be affected in the near future. She did say that one garage had already run out but thought that might be because he forgot to order (doesn't seem likely does it?).

not wishing to put a dampener on this whole exercise, my fuel bill for a year's commute is £1500.
I imagine the other contractors amongst you can appreciate this, so loss of pay from a couple of days off work from this and my 'petrol' costs have doubled!
'Tis a principle thing, but still - might be quite expensive, eh?

The Government won't give a monkeys if it's all going off "up North" or essentially anywhere other than London.
Let's hire some decent sized plant and park the buggers on Park Lane.
Job done!!!!

Being employed as a lowly middle manager for a charity, im not exactly flush. My MY99 has made me even less flush, hehe.
I travel over 50 miles per day on twisty B roads (sounds great dont it, unless your talking fuel economy) to get to work and back, or 300 miles per week. Other general running about brought my fuel bill to over £3600 since getting the scoob 13 months ago.
That is £3400 just for fuel alone off my miserable £16K salary. In other words im paying more in tax than people earning twice my salary. Im too scared to add up my total running costs, including depreciation etc.
It looks like it might be 'good by scooby' sonner than I thought.
*******dzz.
p.s. perhaps we could start a seperate thread, on "Who is the poorest Scooby Owner?"
Thats my bid in then @ £16K a year earnings (no overtime or bonuses), a morgage, (no kids thankfully), and a £3400 p.a. petrol bill. So far servcing, tyres and, ahem, accessories' have come to £2800 since purchace 13 month ago. And no, I dont have savings, a rich benefactor or a lottery win etc., etc............
Needless to say I am less than impretza'd with this government.
Jye (can u spare an alm please Mr. 2 jags?)

It is getting really bad in Essex now. The A127 is practically down to one lane in each direction from the M25 to Southend. It's just taken 2 1/2 hours to drive from Basildon to Thaxted with queues at every petrol station apart from the ones which are closed already.
Unleaded has just run out at my local garage & had to fill up with SUL at 96.9p a gallon.

Hmm - given the supermarket's profit margins & their (alleged, ossifer) ability to get blood out of a stone when "negotiating" with farmers, I doubt it....
Anyway, if we really care about farmers, shouldn't we
a) shop on quality, not price
b) buy from local butchers etc.
b) support farmers markets more
Oops - out of sequence - must refresh more...:-)

Queued for nearly an hour last night at one of our locals - only one pump left with Premium Unleaded, no Super, and only about 1.5-2 hours' worth left!!
The woman in the garage had already called the police out twice to break up fights, and it looked like one was about to kick off just as we were leaving - barbarians.
