Default ScoobyShootout 2005- a question to those that ran..

Did anyone run with a 2L engine in the sub 13sec classes?

Just curious as to how many 2.2/2.33/2.5+ engines ran..

(mainly because I now want one thanks to you lot! )

AFAIK Colby with a 1995 WRX with front entry TD05, 440cc and STI8 Intercooler, decat and standard headers. He got a 12.72 on a standard WRX engine.

Does anyone find the times they get at Elvington are better than Santa Pod?

Yes, because you get much better traction at Elvington on a RWYB than at S'Pod

Bob, I found that after being able to repeatedly get a spot on launch at Elvington and 12.3 @ 118, I couldn't stop my car suffering from wheelspin and axle tramp that led to it jumping out of gear on three runs I tried at S'Pod only 2 weeks later...I vowed never to bother with another RWYB at S'Pod after that, despite Elvington being 10 times the distance away from me

It's where the wheels start to bounce because they are spinning so hard and yet trying to make traction, because the suspenion is pushing them down, the forces are so strong that the hub assembly and engine are twisting on their mountings and then springing back to their normal position when the wheel leaves the ground... on my car this resulted in the gearbox moving about enough for the shifter mechanism to bang against the transmission tunnel knocking it out of gear I've since swapped the engine mounts for something a little stronger...and will be looking at uprating the pitch stopper (link between the engine and bulkhead that sits under the standard top mount intercooler) for drag work!

Default Storm Motorsport

Our car is still a 2 litre and ran 12.8 at 106mph, even with 19 inch wheels on it. This is proof that you can have the looks aswell as the power.

Maybe with 17s on the times may increase, any suggestions?
