General feeling on here is if a standard UK car or import mapped for UK fuel, it is good "insurance" for your engine. If modified or an unmapped import, most regard it as an essential to prevent engine damage.

If you're interested, there is a group buy running at the moment on NF race http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=426780. From what you say it sounds like a fresh import - remember that Japan market cars are setup to run on 100 RON fuel, so until it is remapped (and even then still worthwhile) it is essential to use some sort of Octane Booster to prevent detonation.

There are also GB's on remaps, but they are for UK mainland - don't know if any ever get run for Ireland.
