Default REAL DEAL WITH MOTS

HI guys can someone please explain a few things to me???

If you get you car MOT'ed at one of these ' free retest' places, am i right in thinking it ONLY applies to certain work ( ie changing a bulb, adjusting a light, emissions etc) and if you do the work yourself, you have to pay for a full retest??

all help appreciated

Most garages offer a 7-14 day re-test which means if you do all the work that it failed on no matter what it needed doing and take it back within the above time then there should be no charge.

Depends on the garage, most places will let you take the car away after a failure, then just test the failed parts when you return it ( they are supposed to do full retest).

Some garages however will not retest if you remove the car from them, i.e pay them at inflated rates to change bulbs. etc

Just best to ask first.

Just to add

Im sure it is actually a legal requirement for ALL MOT stations to offer a 14 day re-test. Its just how they go about it (see above) which differs
