Don't use Autoglym 'Clean Wheels' on a Car with painted calipers (i.e. Subaru 4-pots).
They will not be painted much longer if you do

If your alloys will wash clean with a good car shampoo, all you need to do is give them a few coats of wax (prefereably inside and out.
Brake dust then just wipes of and cannot "attack" the laquer.
If wheels really dirty, best thing to do is use one of Wax Wizard/Zymol cleaners first (have also used WD40 to good effect as a cleaner with no problems (keep it off the brakes!) then washed and waxed).
Don't want to comment adversely about a specific product, but I personally wouldn't use the one you mentioned as paint stripper!

I've got a better tip.
Don't use ANY of the so called shop bought wheel cleaners full stop. Never mind the calipers - just wait and see what they do to the laquer on the wheels.
(Learn't the hard way some time/cars ago)

Couldn't agree more. Either wash your wheels on a regular basis and the brake dust should come off easily or use something like the cleaner made by the Wax Wizard which is non-acidic.

Only because Wonder Wheels, like most commercial cleaners use acidic compounds. I used to swear by Wonder Wheels until I saw what happened to my alloys after prolonged use. If you have any dents on your alloys, the cleaner can get underneath the lacquer and lift it - looks a bit like the bubble effect you get with rust under your paintwork.

I spent well over an hour on Saturday removing ingrained brake dust from my front wheels and this is after giving them 2 coats of Autoglym a fortnight ago and washing them at least twice since then. I didn't want to use the acidic cleaner I have in the garage for the reasons given above. I have just been quoted £160 to have the wheels powder coated in a darker colour (Kosei 10 spokes) so it looks like the Wizard for me as well.
