Can't help you with the make / model of the seats you're asking about, but check out Britax and Maxi Cosi. They do good quality safe seats for your little ones.
You'll also need to start with a rear facing seat, as the baby won't be able to support it's head. You usually go from rear facing to forward facing seats around 10 - 12 months, but it depends on the weight of your baby.
Congrats by the way, it's lots of fun.

Depedning on the age of the your car, you may have ISOFIX - having bought an ISOFIX car seat it's definately the better option and well worth using the ISOFIX fittings in your car. More expeinsive than a regular car seat but what's the price of safety for your new child eh? We're about to go from the rear to front facing seat in a month or two and will definately go for the next ISOFIX model.

I had a travel system pushchair which has a car seat on it already for babies up to 4 mths until they can support their heads, I would have a look in Halfords aswell for bucket seats for babies as the bigger stores will have quite a few, plus free fitting to make sure its in your car safely , have a look on websites such as Toys 'r' Us who stock car seats, Halfords website and just general stores like Mothercare, Argos etc.

As above we went for a Mamas and Papas buggy system where the buggy seat also has a base that is fixed into the car, then the seat clips into the base. No need for a dedicated car seat for 9 months or so.
