They're probably trying to shift the remaining stock of the current shape before the '06 car is announced and nobody wants the '05 any more.
Even so, getting more for less the longer you're prepared to wait is called 'progress', and it's nothing if not predictable. Development isn't ever going to stop just because you or I have bought a car and want it to retain its value.
