Question Number Plates: How Small Can You Go?

Hi all,

I have a 5 character private plate and i'm really tempted to get one of the smaller number plates made up.

Does anyone know what, in the eyes of the law, is legal/illegal?

Cheers

Kel

I have a six character P. plate and I had a normal one made up...NO BORDERS! cut off the blank ends, used the ends to profile the corners, smoothed perfectly with a sanding block...looks mint...you may need black studs to fit..+ d/s tape.

My plate is 5 characters and I've got away with a 280 x 80 plate for a couple of years now. Looks much better IMHO.

However, my production manager has a normal PX53 *** plate, and he gets pulled repeatedly for it.

As in the link by corradoboy, its down to the character size- mine don't look too small, but when you try to squeeze seven characters on they look really small.

Going from that guide i could drop my actual plate size but after calling a few places today in regards to making smaller plates for a car they all made out like i was asking for blood!

Anyone know of a place in West Yorks who would accomodate?

Many thanks for the replies!

I went for this one from www.fancyplates.com cost 35 quid front and rear ( Rear is full size front is 3/4 size ) Been on the car since start of March and had no problems so far, I would suggest keeping the font and spacing correct though

Had mine for a few months and had no problems, pretty small compared to standard size...
